BAUMAX develops precast construction system for residential housing in Chile
Currently a newly developed precast modular construction system has captured Chile. This system is different from others not only because of its earthquake-resistant features, but also because of the shorter building periods involved, and the higher building quality. The complete project was developed collaboratively by the leading Chilean housing developer BAUMAX, the earthquake specialist Sirve SA and the German plant engineering company Vollert. "Throughout the spectrum of our activities - including the manufacture of prototypes in Germany, and subsequent erection in Chile - much was accomplished with the support of architects, designers, planners, and consultants. As a result, precast, earthquake-resistant concrete walls and floor slabs can now be automatically manufactured in a short time with top quality", said Sebastián Lüders, satisfied Technical Director at BAUMAX. Following the successful completion of the first model house residential areas of this type in April 2016, the Baumax group now starts the serial production of the new types of houses.

Warning! Heavy Haulage!
In Luxembourg the manufacturer of low-loaders, Faymonville, has parts that weigh up to 12 tons floating freely through its paintshop without touching the ground. At its headquarters in Lentzweiler in Luxembourg a new paint line for surface coating of trailer parts is currently under construction. The parts are blasted floor-free, spray-galvanized and coated. The material flow concept comes from a heavy haulage expert, too - from Vollert. The focus is on the overhead dual-track suspension system. The distribution on two tracks allows the flexible and optimal positioning for automatic sandblasting of the workpieces, which may be up to 3 m high, 2 m wide and 12 m long. The process of sand-blasting and the drive through the cabin are fully automated.

Robotized unloading of sugar beet
With production sites and subsidiaries in 55 countries, the AGRANA Group is today one of Europe's largest sugar producers and is the world's leading supplier of fruit preparations. At harvest time, everything must go quickly. Deliveries of sugar beet are unloaded, washed and processed non- stop, 24 hours a day. To ensure that the production chain keeps going irrespective of the product delivered by truck, a safety buffer has been built in whereby freight carriages stands by with the sweet fruit . Until now freight wagons were handled by a rope conveyor, but excessive wear and increasing demands took their toll on the stationary system, which could no longer cope effectively. Since September 2014 the unloading works are being undertaken by the shunting robot DER 50. Robust mechanicals allow the shunting robot DE 50 from Vollert to be operated in almost any weather imaginable, including high temperatures, snow, freeze and temperatures down to minus 60 °C.
