Prestressed concrete sleepers

For many years now, prestressed concrete sleepers for rail systems have replaced the use of steel or wooden sleepers in public and private company rail networks. They last longer than wooden sleepers and do not need to be impregnated with mineral tar oil. All the shapes of normal types of sleeper can be substituted with prestressed concrete.
Prestressed concrete sleepers are supplied ready for laying straight from the factory, meaning that all the reinforcing has been built into the sleeper and prestressed in accordance with the standards.

Production of prestressed concrete sleepers using the late removal of shuttering
On the basis of an internal study carried out in 2002 that investigated all the current options available on the market for the production of prestressed concrete sleepers in terms of economy, quality and the use of energy, Leonhard Moll Betonwerke chose at the end of 2002 a system for the production of prestressed concrete sleepers using the late removal of the shuttering. Here, the experience of Moll, which had already produced several million prestressed concrete sleepers in the past, was combined with the plant engineering expertise of Vollert. The result is a plant that sets new standards worldwide with regard to economy, quality and energy consumption.
