Shunting Robot with Diesel-Electric Drive Unit

This shunter of the DER series designed with two axles will be delivered in this
execution with a diesel engine make VOLVO provided with a capacity of 360 kW, electric power transmission, variable weight per axle from 16 to 22 tons and an operation speed from 10 to 40 km/h.

Giants of the rail

A total of 151 tons of steel, drive technology and electronics – rolling along as if guided by an invisible hand along the rail system of a new British cement factory (Buxton Lime Industries Ltd, in Buxton, near Manchester) and positioned to an accuracy of a centimetre by radio-operated remote control. This impressive picture is provided by the heaviest shunting locomotive ever used on rails in Great Britain.
