Kaltenbach produces not only structural precast concrete parts, such as stairs and bal- conies, but also customer-specific floor slabs and double walls. The plant technology is more than 20 years old. Several modernization steps are to retrofit it to the latest technology status. The entire concreting process has just been ret- rofitted in December. The manual concrete spreader, originally installed in 1988, gave way to a cutting-edge CAD/CAM-controlled automa- tic one. The new concrete spreader ensures ho- mogeneous and precise concrete output, saving 10% in terms of concrete volume. REFERENCE PROJECT ARBURG, GERMANY The specialists from Vollert modernized the entire material flow technology of an existing large- part paint shop for the injection-molding machi- ne manufacturer Arburg in a comprehensive ret- rofitting project. They improved and automated the existing transport processes while preserving the present crane track and paint shop technolo- gy. Following the retrofit, the loading and unloa- ding areas also have two additional crane sys- tems for picking up and removing workpieces now. In parallel with this, Vollert brought the control technology up to date. All in all, the mo- dernized plant’s throughput times were reduced by about 20% thanks to the retrofit concept.
