TruckTower: Automated parking systems

According to estimates by the European Commission, truck traffic is expected to increase by a further 44% between 2020 and 2050, while bus use is projected to rise by 72%. According to the BMDV, freight traffic is expected to increase by a further 46%, with road freight traffic rising by as much as 56% by 2051.

The Truck Tower Concept

A consortium consisting of Vollert, the software company ABONA Deutschland, and the drive specialist SEW-EURODRIVE now aims to change this with a new idea. The fact is that there is only limited land available for new truck and bus parking spaces. However, a parking garage in the conventional sense is not a realistic solution given the high demand for parking spaces and the limited space available for large transport vehicles. The TruckTower concept takes a new approach.

Thinking vertically

The basic idea is that of a high-bay warehouse in logistics. The advantage is that up to 20 trucks or buses can be stacked in an area equivalent to five angled parking spaces. Depending on requirements and construction, three to five times that number can be accommodated on the same floor space. A system that not only enables intelligent parking. The new parking system also offers numerous other advantages in terms of environmental and safety aspects.
